Facility Service Provider ISS Integrates Cloud BaaS from Canopy through Expanded Partnership

Canopy and ISS have expanded their cloud services partnership for nine years, the companies announced. Canopy is an Atos company and Atos is already providing data center services and user support to ISS, a global facility service provider. The expanded contract adds cloud backup to the deal, which will be provided through Canopy.

 The Canopy Backup service is part of Canopy’s larger offering, and will be used by ISS as a cloud-based backup solution for data stored on users’ devices. The offering utilizes Mozy by EMC2, which is used to back up 100,000 business customers and more than six million endpoints. The Mozy cloud backup service is powered by ITaaS provider EMC, a global company focused on information infrastructure with 400 sales offices and partners in 86 countries. The company works with technology companies, service providers and a host of system integrators and distributors.

 Canopy’s BaaS offering gives workstations as well as enterprise-grade backup and restore services to ISS in support of their distributed workforce. Data on user machines is securely backed up to the cloud on a schedule, without the need for user intervention. Users may then perform a self-service restore from any location with an internet connection. Cloud backup and recovery services are gaining prominence, and are widely being adopted by service providers and offered to their customers. An IDC report on cloud services adoption shows that 69 percent of companies are evaluating or planning to use online backup services in the near future. Massive adoption is expected between now and 2015, and MSPs, VARs and data center providers are scrambling to integrate these offerings.
