Cartika Builds and Launches Cloud Hosting Services in 3 Weeks Using OnApp Cloud Platform

By Laura Stotler

In a major demonstration of the rapid deployment benefits of cloud services, managed service provider (MSP) Cartika has built and launched a range of enterprise cloud hosting services in three weeks. The company used the OnApp Cloud platform to build a completely automated cloud offering hosted at SAS 70 Type II data centers in Toronto and Dallas.

The new offering provides customers with a a single interface to public, private and hybrid cloud services. It may be delivered as a fully managed offering but also includes self-service options and monthly billing.

Cartika chose OnApp for its obvious rapid time-to-deployment features, along with cloud orchestration capabilities. These include autoscaling and load balancing, and Cartika also plans to take advantage of OnApp CDN, DNS and other capabilities. The OnApp Cloud platform also provides a stable API and ease of integration with existing systems and infrastructure.

The new Cartika cloud solution replaces their previous platform, which was developed in-house based on XenServer. It is being offered alongside the company's VPS service, also built on OnApp, and launched in April. The new solution provides customers with a single point of purchase and configuration for a variety of IaaS cloud and VPS services, with additional add-ons to be made available in the near future.

"We've spent a long time searching for the right cloud platform for the next generation of Cartika cloud services," said Andrew Rouchotas, CEO of Cartika. "It has been a long and frustrating process, and other suppliers have simply failed to deliver what they promised. With OnApp, we have finally found the cloud partner we've been looking for. OnApp understands service providers. They understand our business, our environment, and the OnApp team knows instinctively what we need to serve our customers."

"Now our customers get one place to purchase and manage their core cloud services, deployed as they like across our facilities," he added. "They can add associated services like load balancing, advanced networking and Bacula4Hosts from the same interface, and pull in other value-added features as we develop them. We're giving them that 'single pane of glass' to the hosting capabilities they need to run their businesses, and what makes it possible is the feature set, networking flexibility and service provider heritage of the OnApp Cloud platform."
