UK Risk Management Provider Aon Using Managed Communications Services from Azzurri

By Laura Stotler

UK insurance broker and provider of risk management services Aon is using Intelligent Telecoms Expense Management (ITEM) from Azzurri Communications. Azzuri, a provider of managed communications services, offers the solution to centralize telecoms management with one reporting tool.

The Azzurri ITEM offering manages multiple telecom suppliers as well as consolidating multiple billing feeds from different providers into one interface. By turning to a managed service provider (MSP) to handle its supplier relationships, Aon now has more resources to focus on its core business offerings.

The company had previously outsourced its fixed voice, WAN and telephony infrastructure to a global provider of IT services. That relationship ended, with the company stuck taking over direct responsibility for all supplier bill management. This meant Aon had to manage several telecom and data suppliers throughout its diverse infrastructure of business units.

Aon decided to give Azzurri's services a try for a year, and then renewed its contract for two years. The company also migrated management of its existing call logging service to Azzuri. This enables the MSP to incorporate recharging of costs on a per extension basis with the TEM service. It also gives Aon a large amount of management information so it may ensure the correct levels of recharges are made to individual business units, along with accurately forecasting its telecoms expenditures.

“The Azzurri ITEM service provides Aon with an incredible amount of management information – which allows them to ensure the correct levels of recharges are made to the individual business units, as well as accurately forecasting telecoms expenditure,” said Rufus Grig, CTO of Azzurri Communications. “With Azzurri taking care of the labor intensive bill resolution issues, the Aon team can concentrate on doing their core job – delivering first class network management to effectively support the business.”

One of the main benefits of using the ITEM service includes ease of access to call information for Aon. The ITEM solution consolidates multiple billing feeds from seven different providers into one central reporting tool for the company, while also logging and analyzing the hundreds of thousands of calls the company makes. This data is presented through simple dashboards specifically tailored to meet the company's requirements. Management of multiple supply vendors is also a major benefit to Aon, with Azzurri handling all the details and only providing Aon with the information they need to make informed decisions.
