XO Communications Launches New Cloud Service from CoreSite Facilities

XO Communications Launches New Cloud Service from CoreSite Facilities

By Erin Harrison

In an effort to offer customers a new cloud service that includes storage, backup and infrastructure as a service (IaaS), XO Communications will launch its XO Compute cloud service from CoreSite’s cloud data center facilities in Northern Virginia and Los Angeles.

To expand its network and service offerings – which are already present in both CoreSite facilities – XO Communications’ East and West Coast cloud deployments will take advantage of CoreSite’s data center scalability and customer accessibility. The deployments will allow XO Communications to provide its XO Compute product portfolio to customers, and in turn, CoreSite customers will gain access to new services such as XO Cloud Vault, XO Cloud Drive, and XO Enterprise Cloud services, according to Don MacNeil, CMO of XO Communications.

“Expanding with CoreSite for our new XO Compute portfolio made perfect sense,” MacNeil said. “Not only do its facilities meet our growing requirements and support the needs of our customers, but its East and West Coast data centers will enable us to seamlessly integrate our new cloud offerings with our existing network presence. The expansion gives mid-size and enterprise customers nationwide, especially in financial services, healthcare and business services, easy access to our cloud services with minimal latency and maximum performance.”

XO will deploy the services at CoreSite’s One Wilshire campus in Los Angeles, which provides proximity to over 180 networks and access to a large community of digital content providers and enterprises. The company will also expand its presence at CoreSite’s Reston data center campus, which is located along rich fiber routes and connectivity across Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., providing immediate access to communities of financial service providers, government-related agencies and other enterprises.

“We’re delighted to support XO Communications’ new Compute cloud services portfolio as XO Communications grows its business with us,” said Jarrett Appleby, COO of CoreSite. “This expansion gives our broad community of enterprise and media customers a new cloud solution available across the CoreSite Mesh, and further strengthens CoreSite’s longstanding relationship with XO Communications.”

XO Communications was recently honored as the leading business VoIP provider, according to the newly published Infonetics annual report, MSPToday reported.

Infonetics said that as a leading provider, XO managed to deliver the financial stability, highly automated processes and broad geographic reach that will be instrumental in gaining the desired IP connectivity volume.

XO Communications provides business VoIP services to more than 1.5 million VoIP end users and 35,000 businesses and large enterprises, and its offerings include a range of IP telephony features, local and long distance voice, Internet access, and Web hosting services bundled in one simple package.
