When Software Companies Join Forces, MSP Footprint Doubles

By Doug Barney

The biggest trend amongst those serving the MSP community is partnerships. You’ve got something I want and I have something you need -- so let’s make a deal.

That presumably is the logic behind the coming together of SevOne, which makes an IT management and reporting platform, and Edge Technologies, which develops visualization and data integration software.

Now MSPs can go to SevOne to get both sets of tools, and thereby sell services that combine integration and management.

These deals are ideal for MSPs and MSP customers. First, there is better integration between the two sets of tools. And there is a single source for purchasing, licensing and support. It makes the IT managers’ job far simpler when he or she doesn’t have to manage a zillion MSP relationships and contracts. And MSPs get to double what they can sell.

The partners came together last year and now are ready to offer the fruits of this relationship.

“The partnership and product integration will allow SevOne customers to benefit from Edge's powerful data visualizations combined into state-of-the art, role-based dashboards that are designed to maximize workflow efficiency and unify operations,” the partners said. “SevOne's all-in-one performance management system can now be seamlessly integrated with other complementary tools and platforms with Single Sign-On and secure support for multi-tenancy.”

The SevOne appliances monitor networks on a peer-to-peer basis and can either be packaged as a hardware appliance or a virtual appliance, meaning it comes in the form of a ready-to-roll virtual machine.

“As a growing number of our customers were becoming SevOne customers, this partnership really made sense for everyone. Adding SevOne to our COTS-based integration library provides an important and rich data source for Edge Technologies, our customers, and integration partners,” said Betsy Gorgei, president and CEO of Edge Technologies.

The 8-year-old SevOne last year was picked by Gartner as a Cool Vendor in Communications Service Provider Infrastructure.
