Virtual Global Unveils SaaS Maker 2.0

By Meenakshi Shankar

The demand for SaaS applications is expected to rise sharply over the next several years. According to Gartner, the SaaS market will reach $22.1 billion by 2015 and at the same time, the cloud brokerage market is expected to reach $100 billion by next year.

Virtual Global, a company which specializes in software and cloud computing platform solutions, launched SaaS Maker 2.0, a major upgrade to its unified platform.

As indicated, the new version includes a Developer’s Console, enhanced application designer, a high-performance .Net SDK and a “Gizmo exchange” for sharing and integrating cloud services. Also, the platform exposes an open API and is portable across data centers.

“Using SaaS Maker, developers can build, deploy and sell SaaS applications with zero upfront investment, in sharp contrast to the venture backing or project funding that was required a few years ago,” Cary Landis, chief executive officer at Virtual Global, said in a statement. “Software developers want to do both things: Build applications and integrate cloud services, so we're simply making it easier for developers to do both things in one place,” says Landis.

SaaS Maker, Virtual Global’s platform-as-a-service, perfectly erases the traditional barrier between IT and business and fits into the newly emerging mix of IT and business professional. With this, small and large businesses will become more user-friendly, and better business will happen without confused end users having to constantly call tech support.

SaaS Maker is a cloud toolkit for building software as a service (SaaS) applications quickly. SaaS Maker includes tools for building rich user experiences, data driven forms, workflow, reports and dozens of features. The open API lets advanced developers integrate with open source, 3rd-party and legacy systems.

The SaaS Maker 2.0 upgrade implements a new business model for developers to sell their applications. Instead of charging developers upfront, SaaS Maker implements a revenue share model when applications that are successfully deployed into operational environments.

Cary Landis, chief executive officer of Virtual Global, is also the co-author of the newly released book titled, "Cloud Computing Made Easy," which analyzes the history of cloud computing as a business model, and describes how it has changed - and will continue to change - the face of innovation, entrepreneurship, and the startup world.
