iomart Group Chosen as Cloud Service Supplier for UK Government G-Cloud iii Framework Project

By Laura Stotler

Cloud and managed hosting services provider iomart Group plc has been chosen as a suppler for the U.K. Government's G-Cloud iii Framework. The project is the latest iteration of the G-Cloud, a pre-approved group of cloud ICT suppliers serving the U.K. Government.

The managed service provider (MSP) will supply cloud services through Infrastructure-as-a-Service (Iaas), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Services will be used for the CloudStore ICT catalog, which the government set up to encourage the adoption of cloud computing.

The CloudStore lets public sector organizations purchase cloud services easily and with minimal disruption or involvement from management. The G-Cloud program is a cross government initiative designed to introduce cloud ICT services to government, local authorities and the broader public sector. The CloudStore has a number of offerings available, including anti-spam, analytics, application deployment, CRM, monitoring and storage services.

“We are delighted that our tender for inclusion in the newest version of G Cloud has been successful," said Angus MacSween, CEO of iomart. "G-Cloud provides a different route to doing business with the public sector in the U.K. and we look forward to the opportunity to deliver our expertise and capabilities across the full range of cloud and managed IT services.”

iomart specializes in the delivery and management of mission-critical private and hybrid cloud and managed IT infrastructures. The Glasgow-based MSP also offers a range of cloud and software services, including cloud storage, backup and security solutions. It also offers a 100 percent uptime guarantee with all hosting services to ensure no single point of failure.
