Diabetes Supply Vendor Looks to JDL for Managed Services Help

By Doug Barney

Nipro Diagnostics makes it living helping those suffering for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, supplying test strips and blood glucose monitors to help track the disease and choose the proper amount of insulin. And its wares can be found in most every drug store in America.

The blood monitoring space in particular has advanced in recent years as the devices have become more accurate and far less intrusive.

For a company like Nipro, the key is continuing to develop state of the art products and keep its retailers, which include CVS and Walgreens, properly stocked.

To allow it to concentrate more fully on these two goals, Nipro recently commissioned JDL Technologies to provide an array of managed services.

“JDL Technologies helps to augment in-house information technology staff by managing hardware and software sourcing to ensure that the most appropriate and cost-efficient information technology solutions are successfully deployed. The JDL TechWatch managed IT services team manage the Citrix infrastructure,” the companies said. “When Nipro Diagnostics moved its headquarters to an 80,000-square-foot office complex it purchased in Fort Lauderdale, JDL technicians helped create the network infrastructure for the new campus.”

The goal is to JDL help Nipro stay on the leading edge of technology by designing and then installing and managing infrastructure and services to keep Nipro competitive.

"We rely on JDL's technological expertise to help realize our strategic vision, avoid costly pitfalls, and supplement our own dedicated IT resources," said Fabricio Webster, senior network manager at Nipro Diagnostics.

The 20 year-old Nipro is owned by Osaka, Japan-based Nipro Corp., a 50 year-old outfit which works with companies in the medical to help them with manufacturing.

Besides supplying major drug store chains in the U.S., Nipro Diagnostics is also expanding internationally and with providers who distribute products through the mail.

JDL meanwhile, serves the SMB market with cloud, networking and virtualization solutions.

Earlier this month, JDL announced another win, a $400,000 contract to update the network for the DeSoto Country School District. The upgrade is based on Cisco gear, and is designed to support the E-Rate program, an FCC mandate that helps libraries and schools gain proper and affordable access to the internet and telecom services.
