New MSP Spun off from Redstone

By Doug Barney

The Redstone Group was a broad-based MSP with its own original offering, and those it got when it acquired fellow MSP Maxima last year.

The result was a set of offerings that worked just as well independently. So Redstone “demerged,” or spun off its network-based managed services group to form a new outfit called Redcentric.

Redstone will now focus on infrastructure solutions.

Redcentric, meanwhile, will focus on its “managed services business delivering network services, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Software-as-a-Service, and a range of other hosted services including collaboration, Desktop-as-a-Service, IP telephony and Video-as-a-Service,” the new company explained.

The two similarly named outfits will operate independently, and each will have its own management team and independent finances. “Following Redstone’s acquisition of Maxima it was clear that we had two compelling yet distinct propositions, and with that two core client bases with differing requirements and virtually no overlap,” said Fraser Fisher, chief operating officer at Redcentric. “Just as we realize it's not 'one size fits all' for our customers, the same can be said for ourselves. Our new structure allows for the two distinct businesses to operate independently, play to their strengths and innovate according to their unique needs. There will be no impact on our customers.”

Redcentric is now in a number of businesses, including:

    • Applications. Here, Redcentric offers packages solutions as well as management services.
    • Collaboration. Services are messaging, video conferencing and IP telephony.
    • Infrastructure. Services include services on demand, as well as cloud and infrastructure services.
    • Networks. As an ISP, Redcentric can deliver network services over its MPLS network.
    • Security. Redcentric offers enterprise protection from unauthorized devices, DDoS attacks, and other threats.

Maxima had been struggling, and was a distressed company when acquired by Redstone.
