Kudos for KineticD MSP Backup Services

By Doug Barney

Two days after World Backup Day, KineticD announced that its solution MSPs turn into services has just snagged a great new review.

Business Solution Magazine, in conjunction with Remote Technology Management (RTM), a managed service provider (MSP) which did the testing, found a lot to like in KineticD.

"There is no single solution that meets every MSP's needs perfectly, however, we found that KineticD seems to be in a whole other category of backup than the other vendors we tested," said Eric Brown, CEO at RTM. "Besides its continuous file-based backups on applications such as Exchange, SharePoint, SQL databases and QuickBooks, it offers image-based backups for VMware- and HyperV based virtual machines. The company's pricing structure is very competitive and straightforward, a key feature that sets it aside from the other vendors in this space. For customers that do a lot of data entry, such as call center and help desk organizations, being able to back up data in real time could be a very attractive offer."

World Backup Day was held on March 31, and while it may seem like a self-servicing exercise on the part of backup vendors, how many of us have lost data because we had no backup, and how many IT shops were unable to restore because their backups weren’t fully tested and failed to work?

The World Backup Day Pledge is simple, and bit of fun. “I solemnly swear to backup my important documents and precious memories on March 31. I will also tell my friends and family about World Backup Day - friends don't let friends go without a backup.”

The RTM tests took over 40 hours, and included six other backup and disaster recovery (BDR) tools: Asigra, Axcient, CharTec, Datto, StorageCraft and Unitrends. Catching testers’ attention was KineticD’s “unlimited local storage with cloud service; no bandwidth cap; no contracts and the backing up of applications, even when open,” testers said.

KineticD boasts some 100 MSPs and private label partners.

Business Solutions Magazine also profiled an MSP that makes money providing a hybrid cloud storage solution. PCNet just snagged a $25,000 sale for its new cloud backup and disaster recovery service.
