Infitech Goes Pro with ProSource

By Doug Barney

Business solutions provider ProSource jumped into the managed IT services fray with the acquisition of SMB-focused Infitech.

ProSource is a regional provider based out of Cincinnati. It got its start in the copier market in 1985 as Cincinnati Copiers. After expanding into a fuller set of document products and services, the company rebranded itself ProSource in 2005. These days ProSource handles basic gear such as printers, fax machines, and copiers, as well as imaging and other document technologies.

Now with the acquisition of Infitech, ProSource can offer its document management customers “onsite and remote computer and network services, back-up and disaster recovery appliances and services, software and web application development as well as network security and firewall systems,” the company said.

ProSource is hoping the market trend toward outsourced IT is in its favor. “To compete and win, businesses must maximize today’s latest technology and gain access to ideas and technical capabilities to drive their business forward,” said ProSource’s president and CEO Brad Cates. “Infitech delivers best-in-class managed IT without significant investment, infrastructure and cost. This is a natural extension to our office technology portfolio and will deliver value to our customers and the market.”

David Fights Goliath Over Documents

When you look at the document management services market, Xerox is obviously the big elephant in the room. But Xerox can’t be all places at once, and its services are clearly geared somewhat more to the high end of the market. That leaves room for smaller, regional players like ProSource which can offer remote services and onsite attention.

“By combining the portfolios of products and services of both ProSource and Infitech, we are in a unique position to provide and manage all the technology needs of our clients. Our solutions will provide a single source for our clients to ensure efficiency, reliability and security of their technology infrastructure,” added Jeffrey Loeb, president of Infitech.
