Spacenet Adds New Managed Network Services, Solutions to GSA Contract

By Laura Stotler

Spacenet, Inc. has added a range of new communications services, solutions and products to its U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 70 contract. The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd., has added managed broadband network solutions, Emergency Communications Services (ECS) and two high-performance satellite modems.

The new Spacenet Connect Series of managed network services is a tiered suite designed to help clarify and simplify network operations outsourcing. Customers may access a range of services that are packaged according to their individual capabilities, reliability needs and security requirements.

The series features the Spacenet ManagedConnect solution for high-speed connectivity, proactive monitoring and support; the Spacenet AssuredConnect offering for VPN connectivity and proactive network monitoring and support; and the Spacenet CompleteConnect.

The latter offering provides complete management and support as well as network design and VPN connectivity services.

Spacenet ECS and ECS Flex solutions are also included, and operate on a pay-as-you-use basis. The offerings provide flexible emergency communications that are delivered via satellite to virtually any U.S. location. The Spacenet GLT 1000 high-performance satellite modem provides point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connectivity, and flexibly supports data rates ranging from 64 Kbps to 80 Mbps.

It also offers flexible frame size, modulation and FEC.

The Spacenet MLT 1000 satellite military modem is also part of the expanded solutions, providing secure, broadband C41 satellite communications with ensured battlefield information superiority for warfighters per military specifications. The modem's advanced VSAT technologies help maximize link availability while optimizing bandwidth usage and enabling high throughput in challenging field and weather conditions.

"In an increasingly network-dependent world, our government agencies demand and deserve the most reliable and cost-effective communications capabilities available," said Glenn Katz, Spacenet's CEO. "These new offerings on our GSA schedule showcase the latest in all forms of communication technologies that Spacenet now offers. This broad spectrum of services provides even greater availability and affordability than our previous schedule."
