TDS HMS Managed Services and Data Centers Achieve SSAE 16 Type 2 Auditing Certification

By Laura Stotler

Managed services and data centers from TDS Hosted and Managed Services, LLC (TDS HMS) have achieved SSAE 16 (SOC 1) Type 2 auditing certification again, the company announced. The company's data centers are operated by Vital Supports Systems and VISI, and the SOC 1 reports are conducted by a Certified Public Accountant.

SOC 1 auditing standards are performed in accordance with the Statement on Standards for Attestation (SSAE) 16 audit. The audit includes TDS HMS management presenting an assessment and written assertion of controls, for which a third-party auditor holds them accountable.

The certification report offers insight into the people, processes and technology that TDS HMS uses to achieve all the control objectives. Objectives include physical security, availability and change management, incident and event management and IT continuity and request management.

The data centers included in the audit are based in Eden Prairie and St. Paul, MN; Madison, WI; and Cedar Falls and Des Moines, IA. In addition to data center offerings, TDS HMS offers cloud infrastructure, managed services, colocation offerings and network and systems solutions throughout the U.S. On-premises services are available at the data centers in addition to the option to colocate at a Tier 3 data center.

Customers may also take advantage of the company's ReliaCloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering.

"The SSAE 16 audit and SOC 1 certification reaffirms our company's commitment to meet the highest standards for security and availability, while making sure all of the appropriate controls and safeguards are firmly in place," said Clint Harder, vice president of product strategy for TDS HMS. "The audits are third party validation that we deliver what we promise, and ensure that our customers' equipment and data is available, secure and managed in-line with industry best practices."

"The SSAE 16 audit provides our customers with reassurance and confidence they've chosen a partner who is able to operate a secure, reliable, and prepared data center," added Harder.
