Unified Office Puts New Virtual Office Arrow in MSP Quivers

By Doug Barney

We here at MSP Today are besieged almost daily with news of new virtual office wares. Some are MSP services that give clients managed desktops, secure IP telephony and work-worthy broadband.

Some are technologies that MSPs can then turn into services, which is one of the aims of Total Connect now from Unified Office, based in Portsmouth, NH.

Unified Office sells virtual office communications services to small and medium size businesses (SMB), and works with a channel of VARs and managed service providers (MSP) to go after specific markets and customize solutions.

The new private cloud-based managed service Total Connect Now is designed to let workers access virtual desktops no matter where they are. The service supports Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), letting customers use these devices to access virtual desktops over broadband or mobile networks, and also uses quality of experience (QoE), sometimes called quality of service, to make sure the network performance is up to snuff.

Specific features include instant messaging, a virtual receptionist, fax, visual voicemail, and video and audio conferencing.

The world of business is changing," said Ray Pasquale, CEO & founder of Unified Office. "Social networks and online searches drive business transactions in real time. Responsiveness to the market is more critical than ever before. Employees insist on BYOD and utilize multiple devices in multiple locations. As we evolve from legacy premise-based and first generation cloud-based services, Unified Office stands out as the leader in secure, private cloud office virtualization."

United Office taps into new Web technologies to enhance the end user experience, including HTML5. HTML5 provides a richer, fuller experience for Web users, smartphone users, and those using tablets. In fact, Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows 8 largely uses HTML5 as a format for new applications and Web browsing.

United Office also uses WebRTC, or Web real-time communications, which allows for browser applications, without the need for plug-ins, to share files using peer to peer, the ability to video chat and make phone calls. These standards help the new Total Connect Now work all major client computing devices.

As a managed service, Unified Office backups and monitors client systems.
