Backup My Info! (BUMI), which offers managed online backup and recovery solutions for SMBs, has announced a major upgrade to its Asigra-powered offering. The latest software release adds new functionality to help companies streamline their backup and recovery processes.
The newly enhanced BUMI solution offers several new options, including Virtual Disaster Recovery (VDR) capabilities, Salesforce.com data protection, support for mobile devices and NetApp snapshot integration. Local and remote VDR lets organizations ensure business continuity, as well as recover from a range of disasters like site failure in a matter of minutes.
This capability also lets users failover both VMware virtual machines and physical machines to an ESX server.
Additional enhanced features include greater monitoring and control improvements to the BUMI NOC, which is a Web-based interface. The BUMI NOC provides real-time visibility and control that gives users the option to view, edit and change their backup settings and notifications. The offering also provides increased support for mobile devices, with new updates that make it easier for users to backup sensitive corporate data residing on mixed devices, like laptops, desktops, smartphones and tablets.
BUMI also now supports Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, Mac OS X Mountain Lion, MS SQL 2012, VMware 5.1 and Oracle 11g R2. The new platforms are in addition to original support for Windows, Linux, Mac OS, iOS and Android.
BUMI now also offers backup and restore features for Salesforce.com's Enterprise and Unlimited Versions, for protection of SaaS data and control over the granularity and frequency of backups.
Finally, the enhanced offering provides NetApp Snapshot Manager capabilities so that organizations using NetApp may quickly and efficiently protect large data sets, and obtain a point-in-time copy of storage hardware. The new version may be automatically deployed to customers as a managed solution, and is also available to new clients that sign up for BUMI's online data backup and recovery offering.
“Businesses face more challenges than ever when it comes to protecting their data,” said Jennifer Walzer, CEO at BUMI. “Exponential data growth has always been an issue, but on top of that we’re seeing more and more organizations using cloud-based applications, adopting virtualized environments and allowing their end-users to utilize mobile devices as part of BYOD initiatives.”
"Today it’s no longer as simple as backing up a few physical servers to a secure offsite location," added Walzer. "The IT landscape for many organizations has become so complex and far-reaching, driving the need for increased assurance that data can be recovered anytime and from anywhere. Our new software release helps companies address these issues in order to better protect their data.”
