Portsmouth Computer Group Expanding to Dover

By Monica Gleberman

Portsmouth Computer Group (PCG) will use its latest acquisition of One Second Computers in Dover, to expand its information technology services to include people living outside of its current market of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

PCG has been providing IT support to small and medium size businesses locally for years. The company offers everything from technical helpdesk support, computer support and repair, to consulting services. “Our experience has allowed us to build and develop the infrastructure needed to keep our prices affordable and our clients up and running,” said PCG.

Since its formation in 1996, the company has partnered with numerous businesses in the area and in 2000 it was able to acquire One Second Computers to expand its business practices.

“The business parallel is ideal for PCG,” said David Hodgdon, president and founder of PCG. “This is a very good fit for us. With similar services and products available to both business and home users, PCG and ClicknFix are poised to make a seamless transition for the clientele of One Second Computers.”

The deal allowed PCG to begin offering more to its clients including: server care, back up and disaster relief, VoIP, vendor management, IT sales, network care, desktop and user care, printer management, and mobile office. Now, with revenue continuing to increase, Hodgdon said the opportunity to finally, almost 13 years later, begin to move across the bridge and into new markets was perfect.

“Our goal has always been to develop satellite offices. The biggest hurdle for us was not having a footprint in Dover. We knew that people weren’t coming across the bridge from Rochester, Somersworth, and Dover,” said Hodgdon.

“The Dover location will make it easier for us to have a nearby presence for families, small businesses and some of the older-generation clients.”

Hodgdon said don’t expect Dover to be the only location with a PCG presence. The company plans to add another office in Exeter and one in Hampton over the next two years.
