Cloud Service Provider Hostway Offers Turn-Key Solution through Partnership with Parallels

By Kasey Schefflin-Emrich

Cloud and managed hosting services provider Hostway has teamed up with Parallels to offer turn-key cloud servers to customers and resellers. Through the partnership, Hostway will be able to provide Application Packaging Standard integration of its FlexCloud Server public-cloud hosting suite.

This will give Parallel a cost-effective solution when offering Hostway's public cloud service, since partners and resellers will have the ability to bundle FlexCloud with other services to enable on-demand, pay-as-you-go cloud-computing resources, as well as take advantage of FlexCloud's numerous advanced features. These features include user-configurable firewalls and load balancing, IP address management, image cloning and snapshots and managed backup.

“Hostway’s flexible cloud solutions offer the scalability, performance and cost-effectiveness that will enable service providers to deliver high-demand cloud services,” John Zanni, vice president of Marketing and Alliances for Parallels, said in a statement. “Adding Hostway’s FlexCloud offering to the APS library will enable service providers to address a wider range of needs for both their resellers and their SMB customers.”

The new partnership will also be beneficial for independent software vendors, value-added resellers and system integrators since they will be able to incorporate a self-serve compute platform with their software applications, professional services and managed service offerings to create an one all-inclusive end-to-end cloud-delivery solution.

“Offering Hostway’s FlexCloud Servers through the Parallels platform provides an integrated, self-service environment that enables our partners to bundle and seamlessly deliver a catalog of cloud applications to their customers, with scalable infrastructure services as a comprehensive cloud solution,” Todd Benjamin, vice president of Hosted Services at Hostway, said in a statement. “With built-in support for sub-resellers, our partners can even leverage their own channels for VARs, system integrators and SaaS providers, enabling them to deliver additional services from their own data center.”

In addition to its partnership with Parallels, Hostway has also signed a deal with communication and collaboration software mobile-app provider Open-Xchange to expand its Web-based communication capabilities.
