MSP Webhosting.net Selects Bitdefender SVE Security Solution for Virtualization Environments

By Laura Stotler

Global managed service provider (MSP) Webhosting.net has chosen the Security for Virtualized Environments (SVE) solution from Bitdefender Enterprise for its virtualization environments.

The MSP is using the solution as standard security protection, including for its newest Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) offering.

The company delivers managed services through VMware solutions, geared toward entry-level organizations all the way to the enterprise level. Webhosting.net also offers a variety of IT services, including virtual and cloud hosting, Microsoft Hosted Exchange, business continuity services and a carrier-class colocation facility.

The MSP chose Bitdefender SVE after testing it against another virtualization security product. The selection phase included a 30-day proof-of-concept in which the solution was tested in several customer environments. Customers reported a noticeable improvement in performance, and commented that SVE was non-intrusive and they weren't aware that it was working behind the scenes.

The Bitdefender solutions have been purpose-built for the MSP market and are highly scalable. The offerings are built from the ground up to support physical, virtual and mobile complex environments. Bitdefender SVE offers streamlined protection for endpoints running any type of virtualization technology, including VMware vSphere, Citrix Xen and Microsoft Hyper-V.

This lets organizations achieve higher consolidation ratios as well as reduce the costs associated with additional hardware.

"One of our key customer offerings is Desktop as a Service (DaaS), a WebHosting.net hosted VDI service," said Jose Uribe, chief operating officer, Webhosting.net. "Our VDI service enables customers to secure, accelerate, and cost-contain their IT initiatives, and our service level agreements guarantee high performance and efficiency for our customers."

"Since Bitdefender is a VMware Technology Alliance Partner, integrating with vShield and vCenter, it allows us to both increase our competitive advantage and differentiate our hosted VDI service by bundling it with best-in-class security of the hosted VDI environment," he said. "During the proof-of-concept stage, our customers noticed an improvement in performance, which helped us see that Bitdefender was the clear choice. Our customers were very happy and validated that implementing an AV solution built for virtualization was the key to ensuring top performance and reliability."
