Cognosys Announces CogRedis Redis-as-a-Service Solution

By Laura Stotler

Cognosys Technologies has rolled out its new "Redis-as-a-Service" solution, CogRedis. The offering is part of the company's "NoSQL on cloud" offerings and is designed to fill the need for NoSQL, Redis-based solutions for companies seeking low latency and high performance dataset operations.

The CogRedis offering consists of Cognosys providing managed Redis servers, including replication and auto switchover on failure to ensure high availability. The managed service offering uses sharding, a shared-nothing partitioning scheme designed for large databases operating across a number of servers.

The solution also uses distributed cloud storage to offer the ability to scale infinitely, which enables datasets to grow without running out of space. CogRedis also employs a unique load balancing technique across a variety of cloud networks, including Amazon and Windows Azure.

The managed offering leverages cloud technology including geo-replication, and also enables disaster recovery without any downtime. Auto sharding and multi-point replication provide high scalability and performance, and CogRedis also offers users control over their datasets, since they may adjust settings for auto archival frequency and persistence according to their individual business needs.

Additional features include support for node.js, .NET, Java, PHP, Python, Scala, Ruby and Rails. Automatic backups are also enabled as well as high throughput and low latency, with all Redis API calls and commands supported. Users are free to focus on application development using CogRedis servers through the ultra-fast Redis Server architecture.

Cognosys focuses on providing cloud services, technical consulting and technology that enables software solutions across domains. The company specializes in the areas of storage, media services, healthcare, banking and finance and ERP/CRM. Additional areas of focus include high-performance cloud and cluster computing, complex event processing, enterprise mobile applications and embedded deployments.
