Splunk to Provide Monster with Big Data Security and Intelligence

The parent company of Monster.com, Monster Worldwide, has chosen Splunk (News - Alert), Inc. for its big data security. The software provider indexes machine-generated big data in real time, enabling organizations to search, alert, report and create actionable intelligence on data.

The popular online hub for job listings, Monster chose the real-time operational intelligence provider for the security monitoring and compliance efforts related to its online hosting business. The Splunk Enterprise solution indexes big data in real time and generates reports quickly, to meet the requirements for collecting and retaining specific audit trails.

The Splunk software also enables situational security awareness, including live monitoring of security incidents and attacks. This gives customers visibility and intelligence for combating cyber threats.

"Successful companies today need to protect, track, and control access to sensitive information," said Mark Conway, senior vice president and CIO, Monster Worldwide. "Splunk software helps ensure that Monster continues to provide top quality service to our customers. We selected Splunk because it applies across use cases - including security and compliance, applications, web analytics, operations, web intelligence and overall business insight. Splunk is the enterprise data platform that we will run our business on and is a critical component of our security and compliance and big data strategies."

"Splunk enables organizations to easily gain operational intelligence from their machine data," said Steve Sommer, chief marketing officer, Splunk. "The more data we index, the more value we deliver. New customers like Monster Worldwide often purchase Splunk Enterprise to solve one use case, learn more about the value of their machine data, then expand to additional use cases over time. Our customers always amaze us with the innovative and groundbreaking ways they use Splunk software. We welcome Monster Worldwide as a new customer to Splunk and look forward to learning what they will do next."

Splunk also teamed up with Carahsoft Technology Corp., a trusted government IT solution provider. The new alliance will see Carahsoft marketing, selling and distributing Splunk software to federal, state and local government agencies as well as the Splunk reseller partner ecosystem.

"Splunk software will enable Carahsoft and our reseller network to better equip agencies with big data management and security solutions needed for highly sensitive, mission critical environments," said Craig P. Abod, Carahsoft president. "Splunk's ability to make machine data accessible, usable and valuable makes it a core technology in our big data portfolio and a critical solution for our customers."
