COLO@, the world-renowned colocation service provider, again expanded its data center footprint. Last week, the company announced the inauguration of a new facility in Chicago.
The new facility has been designed for those customers requiring central datacenter services in the USA, COLO@ said in a press release.
In order to turn its new Chicago data center into a highly connected facility, COLO@ partnered with some of the major carriers, including Level 3, Tinet (News - Alert), Cogent NTT, NLayer and HE.net.
In its website, COLO@ said its Chicago center has been provided with a great mix of bandwidth so that its clients’ traffic always receives a smooth route to their destinations.
The facility houses 24/7 on-site staff and monitoring, and is equipped with 750 kVA UPS and a 1.5MW Caterpillar generator to ensure fully redundant power-supply.
The site is climate-controlled via a 4 x 70 ton CRAC unit and a 230 ton Smardt chiller. Fire protection is provided by a VESDA particulate detection, clean agent extinguishers and pre-action dry pipe sprinkler system.
Based in Atlanta, GA, COLO@ operates a comprehensive and robust network of datacenters throughout the continental United States. Its other data centers are located in Phoenix, Los Angeles, Dallas and Clifton – all of which are known for full MPLS interconnectivity. The MPLS system reportedly offers maximum bandwidth and minimum latency across any of its locations. The new Chicago facility extends its customers’ options of choosing suitable data center location.
“Our Chicago location adds one more piece in our colocation network. Chicago provides great routes to the rest of the US and Canada. We're sure our customers will see great benefit from another location to choose from,” said Ryan DiRocco, CTO of COLO@.
Colo@ recently made an announcement regarding an update of prices to special rates particularly for their colocation services. The company said unique prices will be applicable to those who would like to apply for a half or quarter cabinet in collocation spaces. Those who sign a one year agreement with a half cabinet can waive setup fees. Customers who sign on a three-year agreement, however, will have no setup fees and receive complimentary 100 Mbps unmetered network port.
